Do you have numbness in your hands or feet? Maybe you have neck or back pain that radiates down your arm or leg (sciatica), or a footdrop or other weak muscles? A test called electromyography (EMG) can help diagnose why you have these symptoms. You may have carpal tunnel syndrome, a pinched nerve in your neck or back, or a different injury to nerves or muscles.
EMG and nerve conduction studies are tests performed using a computer, electrical impulses, and a fine wire placed into muscles to find the reason for pain, numbness, or weakness. Once this accurate diagnosis is made, the most effective treatment can be started.

Erik S. Herman, MD is board certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He has performed thousands of tests over the last 17+ years perfecting his technique. Dr. Herman will explain his findings during and after the test, so you leave the examination room knowing the results. A report is generated and sent immediately to your doctor electronically. This helps to speed the evaluation process and get your recovery started as quickly as possible.
