The Most Comprehensive Orthopaedic Group in Sarasota, FL

Exceed Your Expectations! David M. Klein, M.D.

Dr. Klein was born and raised in New York City before moving with his family to Jacksonville, Florida.  He is a board certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic hand surgeon. His practice at Kennedy-White Orthopaedics includes surgery of the hand as well as surgery of the shoulder and elbow, including joint replacement and treatment of rotator cuff disease. Dr. Klein joined the group in 1999 after completing his hand surgery fellowship at the University of South Florida/Tampa General Hospital program. He did his orthopaedic training at SUNY-Downstate/Kings County Hospital (where he was named a 'Kings County Hospital Outstanding Physician') following a surgery internship at the University of Texas in San Antonio/Bexar County Hospital. In his orthopaedic training, he received the Bernard Freundlich/Mercer Rang Award. Dr. Klein graduated with Honors from medical school at the University of Florida in Gainesville after completing a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University.

He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Klein has several published papers in the orthopaedic literature. He has a clinical interest in the treatment of wrist fractures and their complications. He has been involved in teaching through lectures to the USF Hand Surgery Fellowship as well as to the Orlando Regional Hospital Orthopaedic Residency. Along with some of his partners at Kennedy-White Orthopaedics, he teaches medical students from Florida State University in their surgical subspecialty rotations.

In his spare time, Dr. Klein enjoys sailing and is an avid photographer, displaying his work throughout our office. With an interest in aviation history since he was a young child, he flies and dogfights with computer flight simulators (though he’s not a “real-life“ pilot). Additionally, Dr. Klein has an affinity for Victorian architecture and spends plenty of “shop time” working on various house projects of his own.
